Features & Advantages:
This group features the Y-suffix models within the CAJ/TAJ series, utilizing R134a environmentally friendly refrigerant. Displacements range from 15.2 cc to 32.7 cc, with power ratings extending from 3/7 HP to 1 HP. This group represents a key product line for the transition to eco-friendly refrigerants, offering full compatibility with R134a and R513A alternative refrigerants.
The power distribution within this group is exceptionally granular — 3/7 HP → 1/2 HP → 5/8 HP → 3/4 HP → 1 HP — forming a complete selection ladder from compact to small-to-medium refrigeration equipment. Notably, the CAJ4476Y (21.75 cc displacement) fills the niche 5/8 HP segment, while the CAJ4511Y (32.7 cc displacement, 1 HP) serves as the flagship model of this group.
These compressors are especially well-suited for medium-to-high temperature refrigeration applications where environmentally compliant refrigerants are required — such as medical cold storage, food display cases, and beverage cooling systems. For each displacement, both single-phase (CAJ) and three-phase (TAJ) power versions are available. The entire series adopts a unified 887 cc oil charge standard, streamlining spare parts management and maintenance.

Q1: The compressor fails to start — what could be the cause?
A: Common causes include:
-
Faulty pressure switch.
-
Compressor overheating or tripped overload protector.
-
Defective contactor or relay.
-
Failed start or run capacitor.
-
Internal motor fault of the compressor itself.
-
Refrigerant charge too low or too high.
Additionally, for the TAJ series, there are usually two overload protectors (Klixon) inside the electrical box. If tripped due to overload, cut off the power supply and wait for them to auto-reset.
Q2: If it is determined to be a compressor motor or mechanical fault, how should it be handled?
A:
-
Electrical fault: If the motor windings are confirmed open or short-circuited, the compressor typically needs to be replaced.
-
Mechanical fault: If the compressor is burned out due to liquid slugging or mechanical seizure, it must also be replaced. Before installing the new unit, be sure to flush the system piping and replace the drier filter to prevent residual contaminants from damaging the new compressor.
